Hi all, quick question....last time I transmitted (15 years ago) I used to wipe out the whole of my estate😳😳I used to use a president lincoln or my cobra 148 with b300p amplifier and an Antron 99 on 11 metres sideband.......I am now setting up again and wondered if I will still get the same problems as before?? Also I am literally 600yds from a private airport will it interfere with them?? Only looking to transmit approx 100 watts on ssb ?? Thanks for any advice/replies👍👍

Hello Andy,

You're much more likely to suffer the interference in reverse these days. Most of us suffer QRM from all the electrical devices in peoples homes now.

I think it's unlikely you'll cause problems to the airport communications system they will be UHF digital now I expect, It's hard to be certain though.

73's Gary.

Its true what Gary said ,but even though SSB and AM modes are legal to use now, but it's still illegal to use any extra power ie: amplifiers on 11m so be careful,

Overdriving your amp will cause splatter. Having the mic gain too high will cause splatter. Also if you've not got a decent RF ground for your antenna your coax will be radiating too and cause RFI - that can be easily solved by putting in a RF choke near the antenna.
