What do i say? And what are the Meaning of the abbreviations ised in cb like.. qsl... 19ner... etc

As far as ssb goes, people tend to use "Q-codes"
Originally derived from Morse code, these are "procedural" codes
eg CQ is calling for a contact aka SEEK YOU
QSY = change frequency
QRO = high power or increase power
QRP = low power or reduce power
QSL = confirm or QSL? = do you confirm?
QRT = stop transmitting or shutting down

This is very brief but the best bet is to just use plain English

I just listened to a variety of people and everyone had their own way of calling dx. Then when i was confident i started calling dx and not one person called back.
Soon found out that my radio needed tuning so soon as i had it tuned i put a call out and got a load of people calling me back.
There is a lots of ways to dx and i normally go hello frequency or cq frequency or good morning-evening frequency this is base station/mobile station call sign calling frequency and standing by or listening etc.

The period around the shortest day is often quite good for propagation, so putting out a call on Dec 25th is well worth doing. I have often worked DX on Xmas Day while the family are watching whatever garbage is on the telly!

Being new to SSB I found the q codes online and printed them off and highlighted the most often used codes so that i can keep them in the car with me.
