Old saying, hight is might, but a lot depends on your own set up, coax, what antenna and what location you are in, testing and looking what will work for you, good luck in your radio hobby

Static is natural on all radio dont matter how high your antenna is , are you sure you dont mean your getting interference from what we call QRM which is interference from man made electronics ie: WiFi routers , LED lights , and many other things of the like, because if it's that it now a part of radio life ,its true of the saying hight is might with antennas, but without actually hearing what your classing as static it's a bit hard to say .

If it is QRM (man made interference) like I said it's a part of modern life with radio now ,how long have you had your antenna higher because if it's only about a week or so if you wait you might see the noise drop as I siad QRM is a pain for radio now it goes up and down the noise because of it ,and this time of year being Christmas it worse with all the cheap Chinese Christmas lights that's about spewing out interference.

At this time of year the noise increases as people put on their Xmas lights, especially those LED type. See where it is in January once everyone has taken them down.

yes this old noise crap when i was using my silver rod very little noise but the new A99 went up, yes i here all them shouting why did you buy that , The wind wrecked my silver rod, so that is why i have the A99 and i am to old to be up and down ladders, now on uk40 there is some noise about sig 5, but on mid band a lot less and as i move down the freq nothing and at 25mhz nothing very clear, so we do not use uk40 up our way we use midband Am Fm SSB we still use if there is a lift, but its mostly midbands now
