Hi James,
Welcome to Charlie Tango DX.
Always good to catch a bit of 'skip'! There are flurries of activity on and off the CB bands through the year but we usually get a good lift at the midwinter solstice, (around Xmas to New Year), and if you're patient enough some great ones during the Summer. Here's hoping you catch some good radio waves
Callsigns are usually issued most days so you shouldn't have to wait too long.

Yes keep getting bits coming through now and then but Antenna is just in the loft at the minute. Next Job is to get someone to mount it on the chimney.

You'd be surprised what you can do with an antenna mounted in the loft James.
My own antennas are nothing more than wires cut to specific lengths hung around the roof rafters to form 'Inverted V' antennas. I've shot skip into Europe with one on CB frequencies to several countries during the summer and currently transmitting to the world on Ham bands using the others! (My bits of wires are otherwise known as a 'Fan Dipole' antenna.)
Of course, it's a bit difficult to fit a commercial 1/2 wave or 5/8ths wave end fed CB antenna in the loft.
