The S1 Turbo was a great car, Martin. I ended up with a S2, loved that car. I think the S1 was the better looking motor. The black S1 that Princess Diana had is still kicking around. That particular motor was be worth a fortune.
Have you seen the price of RS500s recently, Martin?
Sounds like some good conditions. Especially with Brazil coming in.

Yeah RS500's mate take another mortgage out on the house sell the Mrs to a white slaver and might get enough for a damaged repairable lol, my mate has just got himself a 2door mk4/5 Cortina with a full race 24 valve Cosworth lump in it , cant wait to get that on the road. the princess Diana S1 this is no bull5hit mate I've driven it ,I use to work at a RS dealership in Islington in the parts dept and plus I was in the RS owners club anyway for some reason it turned up at our dealership to be fully serviced and then stored away in our secure underground garages which was in a place away from the main dealership well when it got serviced and a valet my manager said you've got a S1 will you take this to our secure garages but be careful its special, so I yes didnt know who's it was just thought a rare black S1 ,when I got back and he pulled me to one side and told me I couldn't believe it . Oh radio is zzzzzz today by the way.

That is amazing, Martin. I have seen pictures on the Internet of her S1, never in the metal so to speak. Do you know where it went after the dealer at Islington? I almost bought a black RS1600i back in the day. I could not get insurance on it, as it was lefthand drive. An army lad stationed in Germany had owned it and was selling it back here.

No I never saw it again John after it went in to our secure garages, I just went back to my parts dept, I dont know even if it was still owned by her at that time, I knew the owner of the Ford dealership where I worked use to look after special cars for people now and then it was in good company in that garage though co also in there was the said dealership owners cars ,a rally prepared RS500 , Mk2 RS2000 custom in black , and a Lotus Cortina mk1,
I apologise for John and I diverting away from the main subject of "Radio Conditions" but we have known each other for a long time on this forum and once we talk about cars theres no stopping us LOL.

He certainly had some tasty motors, Martin. A local garage in Dove Holes, called Stella Motors had a genuine RS200 in road spec, tucked away, about ten years ago. It was on the original tyres and covered in dust.
My apologies for going off topic too, as Martin says, once we get nattering, there is no stopping us.

The Cooper S is a great car, Martin. Bad luck with the Fiat, there are some skanks about. I would like to build a Civic turbo using an eg4 or a ek9 shell from the mid 90s/early 00s

Hello Max,
T5 (short for triple five) is the international calling frequency for the cb/11m band. The actual frequency is 27.555 and the mode of transmission is always USB (upper sideband). On old school multiband radios it would have been ch12 on high-band.
If you want an idea of how to use it, the best way is to tune in and have a listen to other stations. There will also be videos on YouTube that you can watch to give you a good idea.
Just one vital point to mention. Here in Britain, it is still illegal to transmit on that frequency....... But the authorities turn a blind eye to it and it is a long time since somebody had equipment confiscated or was fined for using it. It is something that you need to be aware of, when using it.

73s John.
Thanks for that info, John, Alan and Pagan. It's illegal here in Rep of Ireland too - 27.500 to 28.000 is designated for paging and public address (mostly religious services). It won't do any harm to have a listen (for the moment ). My FT-7B can cover 26. 900 to 30.000 continuously in 4 sections.
