Original plan was to go side of gearbox passenger side but this radio way too big so its gone Taxi style on the dash. Used after market Land Rover mounting box off ebay for a fiver. Made some modifications so i can slide the radio in and out easily of the case. Its held firm by the foam, tension on the flap. Can quickly pull it out when leaving the car.

That looks very nice, much better than sticking it on the gearbox tunnel. You've just got to figure out some routing for the cables. Don't think I'd want them coming down the passenger side of the dashboard cos that's where an airbag normally is and you don't want the Lincoln turning into a missile. Maybe extend the leads and run them along the edge of the windscreen?

yeah, good point. might pop a hole under the rig an pass the wires down the back of radio. Not really concerned about holes in the dash on this car.

You know what? This is exactly why I love seeing stuff shared....
We share what we've done, our achievements, share the knowledge in the spirit of maybe helping others and then someone shares feedback and useful pointers.

Looks good. I put my Yaesu 450d on the dash of my BMW x5 to go up the mountain will take a pic next time. I have a power cable (very thick) extended so it goes along the bottom of the window direct to the jump start terminal under the bonnet. Handy a big car with a big dash looks good but not in the way.

I put in a dedicated power line with a meter so can keep eye on voltage when parked up. Start the engine when it starts going south of 12.2v. Fail safe i park on slope's About 6A on FM and swings higher on SSB. I should rig my spare battery up soon in the tail and put separate charging circuit on it.

Nice install, Pat. Not easy fitting them into modern motors.
