I have an AT6666, Excellent rig and you choose Freq or Channel I’ve seen some have both but not sure of models but I think the 6666 will only set you back about £160. A President Lincoln II has both at £250. Not sure on power output though. The 6666 is about 30w on SSB from memory.

Have a look at the link below....this site gives the details & specs of many CB / Export radios which are currently available. You can also download (free) the user manual and / or software for many of them.

Try to move away from channel mode and into frequency mode. It's strange to start with but because everyone on SSB speaks in frequency mode it's not as trick as it sounds. Just get a radio with continuous VFO. ( frequency changer)

there is lots to pick from, I bought a crt ss 7900 for my young bro for his birthday, and bought it from knights and it came programed for 11m, free band and mid band, and a large read out as he is going blind and very user friendly, And he likes it , but the vintage way is good to but any thing vintage not hacked up or screw to hell is getting very hard, and there going for silly money, we bought him this radio as its very easy to use, and he is happy and he does his free band and very happy,

Your right Steven. I was lucky with my mk1 148 cobra. One owner and was last used before I got it 35 years ago. Paid £200 for her, she came with a silver eagle mic and a 3amp bremi power pack. I sent her off to George Donaldson in Ireland and he worked his magic on her. YouTube "Mr Ian's mk one cobra. Its worth a watch.
