CB newbie here looking to create a cheap starter base station.

I am looking at the two models above both 50 on Amazon/Ebay and both have good reviews. Want to used them at home and also in the car, I realise I will also need a power supply and decent aerial for home use.

Would welcome any input on which might be the best.

Thanks

Geoff

You can't change the microphone on the Albrecht AE-6110 as its fixed but you can with the CRT-Millennium (e.g. if you want to use a power mic). Also, according to some U-tube reviews the signal meter on the Albrecht AE-6110 is not very accurate so personally I would go for the Millennium. However, most activity these days is on SSB as mentioned in the post above so I think you might have problems finding anyone to talk to on FM / AM.

Buy something with SSB if you can

Pretty sure that the CRT 1 and the AE-6110 are basically the same radio inside.

Chinese made Qixiang

You could save a couple of quid and buy my as new Uniden Boarded Mtech legend. (same as president Teddy)

Recommendations on ssb radio's? Well this really depends on your budget outlay for a radio alone you are prepared for. Cost can be quite variable here especially if you are looking at used models as well.

Hi there
At the cheaper end the CRT range are quite reliable I have the 6900N, 9900 and 7900 which have all been reliable and can be re-programmed how you like when connected to a computer with the additional cable and software. I have a millennium as well but you are restricted to what has been mentioned above. Have a good read up on what's available and narrow it down to your own taste.

Regards
May the propergation be with you
