Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening. We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site. The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once. You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are some features you can't use. If you join Charlie Tango you'll be able to access member-only sections, and use member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages, voting in polls, viewing modifications and more. If you are not yet a member: Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Simply CLICK HERE to start the Registration process. Hi guys, thanks for having me! I am an old breaker from the eighties, from down south, Kent and later West London. My first rig was a Fidelity 2001, but please don't hold that against me - I was only 17! My brother gave it to me when strict instructions to be sure and get a license! (to keep Mother happy...) That was back in '85, I was on channel until just after the millennium when a change in life and circumstances took me down a different path. Now my interest in radio communications is revived, especially as the new license conditions allow the use of ssb. After being a "muppet" for a number of years, I thought it might make a change to try something a little more grown up! (but I am still a bit of a muppet, sad to say lol) I have yet to get a new set up, will probably go mobile to start with, easier and initially less expensive. But as with most hobbies it could escalate! I am looking for a good club/site for some support and advice, having never used ssb before. Which would be the best rig, which are legal or not, antennas and other equipment, all questions i may need answered in the not too distant future. Looking forward to getting out there soon. I am now in Birmingham. Last but not least I would like to request a callsign, is it something I can choose or just take the next one available? Thanks. |

Hi Alan, welcome to CT. You can request a specific callsign (see link below for those which have already been issued) and if it is already in use you will be issued with the next available, usually within 24 hours or sooner. It will appear here so keep checking back to this "introductions" page. http://charlietangowww.ddns.net/callsigns/CT_26Div_1000_9999.htm Edited by pagan, Saturday, 21. April 2018, 10:42.

Hi Alan, Welcome to CT DX group. Your call-sign is made up of three parts. The first is a number which denotes your division (country), the second is a group of letters which denotes the group you are representing, and the third is another number which denotes your issue/membership number for your country, within the group.
