High chaps,
Just dug out my President Lincoln and My Antron 99 from 27 years dormant in the loft and setting up to return to the airwaves. Since I put the gear into storage, computers and wifi etc has happened and I cant believe the QRM that it all generates. Housing estate noise gives constant signal 5 on my vertical so I am going to try horizontal polarisation with a delta loop in the loft, otherwise I may have to go mobile. What to do??
I should be ready to get transmitting in a few days so a CT call sign would be appreciated. Also just been given a CT6900 that was 'broken'. After messing about I found that the speaker was not working and for some reason this stopped it transmitting which was strange. Anyway I plugged a Yeasu 902 speaker into the rig and everything now works - Yippee, got a result and a free rig that seems to be a half decent bit of kit??
Im based in North Yorkshire and the only contact I have made was with a Charlie Tango member in Bedale, do the airwaves ever open up on 11m these days?.
Hope to catch some of you guys in the near future either from home or possibly from the top of Sutton Bank.

Hi Marty,
Welcome to CT DX group.
I have issued you the call-sign : 26CT2765, good luck.
Unfortunately, the QRM is pretty bad in a large estate (I also live in one). It's WiFi networks, cheap PSU's, mains adapters, lighting, and a hundred other things matey.
Nice to hear you had a bit of luck with the 6900, they are pretty good radio's tbh.
11m is a little quiet at the moment, as we are approaching the low point in the solar cycle, but in another 2 or 3 years it should be on the way back to 'banging' again.
Many of the UK operators run weekly nets however, which gives everyone a chance of making some good groundwave distant contacts. Have a look in the 'Nets & Skeds' section for details.

Morning chaps,
Many thanks for the warm welcome and the call sign. I am in the process of making a delta loop for the loft, got wire, got 4:1 balun and a roll of rg58 so hopefully this weekend I will get it finished and be 'on air. At the moment the 99 is only 2 mtres off the ground so pretty hopeless as I live in a dip but I have a cunning plan to get it up in the air without any neighbors noticing. If it works things may improve. Thanks for the info on the nets you run, I will read up and get my ears on at the appropriate times. Chow Chow for now
