I made a 1/4 wave vertical from a fishing rod, and had it set up at home on a T.V. type wall mount bracket.

I used an old plastic dumbbell handle around the fishing pole, externally, and also put a plastic pipe piece inside the end fishing rod section. This fitted exactly inside the end of the fishing rod, very snugly, and the plastic dumbbell handle fitted over the end very snugly. Together these were perfect and it held the pole fine without damaging it, so maybe you could come up with something similar for your pole ?

I use 2.5" waste pipe, with a vertical saw cut in it, plenty of Araldite in it and then snapped on over the pole, and tightened down with a couple of Jubilee clips. A six inch section of this at both u-bolt points and my pole has stayed up for the last year with no problems so far.......... 73!
They say hard work never killed anyone..........but why take the chance?

Hi Nik it's looking good, amazing what you can make out of some cotton reels, egg boxes and sticky back plastic isn't it. :p I was think of making something similar myself, to get me started again, but the price of dipole centres are shocking the same price as a half wave silver rod. Back in the day we used to mount 1/4 wave steel whips onto to old dipoles they used to work quite well.

Are all the radials quarter wave length and how much bandwidth are you getting with it at a decent S.W.R?

The antenna is not up anymore, that thread was from a few years ago.

The radials were (if I remember correctly) 108" each (three of them).
The SWR was below 1:1.4 across UKFM, and it was very usable on the 11m freeband section too, but I can't remember if it was usable down on midband.

Hi Paul, with such a light weight antenna you might be able to get away with some low profile brackets like these http://aerialsandtv.com/onlinepolesandbrackets.html#Low_Profile_Wall_Bracket
