Had mine widebanded.

When attempting to use UKFM 27:81 frequencies I find that I cannot adjust to the exact frequency as the main vfo dial won't let me move from 5khz steps. Also my squelch on FM is set to squelch out anything below s3?

I have found the squelch selection via the function menu but nowt seems to work. Any thoughts or help on both these issues would be gratefully accepted!

I do exactly the same but I think the best way is to program them all into memory, I couldn't be bothered to do it if i'm honest I just end up plugging a CB in.

Its a setting on FM you have to set to on. If i can find it i will post back. Its in the menu just cant remember what its called. Also in the menu is an option to change the function of the squelch its like SQL/RF change this to SQL for normal operation. The FM issue i think is in the secondary not just deep menu, its in the balls deep menu i think.

I have the older FT450 with AT it is on page 19 of my manual, ref tuning steps. I think it is this but i done mine over a year ago now and grey matter troubles because i seem to remember there were two things i had to change to get what you want.

Then again i might of done it like suggested tuned manually in USB then hit mode and stored in memory. Man im getting old

Hi
Not sure if you sorted the problem but here is the answer. Press F key then turn DSP/SEL knob to A&FDIAL then turn to enable. Fm mode will now tune on VFO.

Hope this helps

Hi. Guys. :sos:

I've got a FT450d which is widebanded. I don't any problems with it. But just got a FT891 last Sat. I cant adjust
Power output on FM or SSb it's stuck on 50w. No matter which band I'm on 80/6 even T5. I've tried using the
Menues all ways. Your help would be appreciated. I plan on getting on the DR net Weds & Southern on Thurs
And would like to modify output to suit conditions. I prefer to run Qrp to reduce Battery drain & Interference.

Hi. Craig.

Thanks for quick reply. I've adjusted the HF ssb power up to 100w my wattmeter still reads 50w. I reduced it
40w still reads 50w. I reduce FM power to 20w. still reads 50w. It must be something I'm doing wrong in the
menu. I worked the Northern Isles yesterday morning on 20 & 11m .495 in the afternoon with no problems.
But I would like to reduce or increase power to suit conditions. I press the F key for 1sec. rotate Multi knob
to 09-02 for FM then press it & adjust levels when set I press the multi again then press F key to exit menus'
I did the same for SSB. No matter what I do the watt-meter still shows 50w. In the manual it says for extra
details may be downloaded from Yaesu website. I might do that tomorrow? 73s Mike.

Sounds like your doing everything correctly , what does the power meter on the radio say ? I find it to be very accurate , also there is a peak hold which can be set on the power meter , handy for ssb tx

Hi. Craig.

Thanks for confirmation. Tomorrow I'll change my wattmeter and or use the 891 power meter. I always like
to leave the rig meters on SWR. As I flit around the bands a lot. It gives me a heads up on swr. 73s Mike.
