In a statement on Facebook today Nevada Radio, Waters & Stanton and InnovAntennas have announced that they are joining forces:

"Three of the UKs leading Ham Radio retailers and manufacturers have come together to form the “International Ham Stores Group” which will operate from a combined showroom and distribution centre at Portsmouth from April 1st 2017.

A ‘soft start’ migration to Portsmouth will commence for both Waters & Stanton and InnovAntennas from their current Hockley facility to Portsmouth in January 2017. This strategy is being employed to ensure a smooth transition with least disruption to day to day operations to ensure a seamless migration from a customers perspective.

The combined power of the three companies, Waters & Stanton, Nevada Radio and InnovAntennas, will undoubtedly make them Europe’s largest Amateur radio conglomerate. Spokesman for the group Justin Johnson G0KSC said “We are excited at the prospect of working in partnership, to bring new products and un-paralleled service to the Hobby Radio enthusiast and professional alike. We have ambitious plans for growth and new ideas to engage with our loyal customer base. We will also be appealing to new customers that may not have considered our individual group members in the past, adding value with the vastly increased product range that the “IHSG” group will offer.

The three companies will continue to trade under their own names, but combine resources for logistics, marketing, repairs and customer service which will streamline costs and overheads to provide a more competitive ‘one stop shop’ solution for our customers.

IHS Group will become the largest importer of hobby radio related products in the UK supplying Ham radio, CB Radio and Scanner Radio retailers along with major retailers including Maplin and Amazon. Professional and PMR services will also be focused upon by the newly formed Business Radio Division.

As a part of the planned growth, IHS are recruiting in many areas of the business from Antenna fabrication through to web management and logistics. Any radio enthusiast within commuting distance of Portsmouth that wants to be a part of the IHS story should forward CV’s to BeBest@IHSG.co.uk for more information on IHSG group and our proposed services and brands, write to IHSG@IHSG.co.uk"

I guess this sort of partnership is inevitable when retailers are struggling in an ever decreasing market. Costs are up and sales are down.

How long before we end up with just one or two 'big players' in the radio market?????

Basic law of business, become dominant in terms of market share=control prices you charge.

This could go either way lets hope yaesu can deal direct with them and then we wont see any more brexit / plummeting pound stitch ups. Ft450-d anyone oh now £679.00 but make sure you ring us incase you can get it cheaper elsewhere. The same radio went down to £549 on black friday from a certain importer oh i mean outlet and to this day is still a more realistic £549.00. Free tea and pig rolls anyone ? We can afford it, thanks to you guys.

a couple of times this year i decided to get a yaesu 1200 but on finance because of the price, but when i kept ringing mls and asking for the info, they just kept fobbing me off saying go online and look, i thought sod this if you dont want a decent sale you can do one. i then went on to buy 2 brand new radios both cash from radioworld for decent prices and decent service. they also gave me a lot more for my yaesu 450d then the insult of mls we usually pay £200 but we could give you £250 lol.

used waldorf and stadler for my first vhf/uhf and there service was rubbish, they promised me next day service took about 4 days. have dealt with nevada aswell but not for a radio think it was power supplies and other things they wasnt to bad.

radiozing was a good firm when i was dealing with cb and multimode stuff.

I'm lucky in that I live a half hour drive from Nevada. Have also dealt with radiozing and they were good. Knights were very abrupt.

Is an insult m8, you seen what they sell second hand 450's for ? If you think about it defies belief, they try and bend you over the railings. You take in / part exchange a radio on the understanding you buy a new one. I bet they make more selling those second hand ones than a brand new one. Want their cake and eat it, Its a win win for them profit from new sale big profit from trade in when sold. Being something like a 450 or 817 i would think the turnaround is not too bad. Saying that personally i wouldnt pay £499 for a second hand one when a new one is only £50 more. Hope this merger goes ahead for the better i can see some things perhaps going in our favour.

Agree. If any item costs 549 new and is now 3 years old then it sure ain't worth 499!

More like 300 tops.

I have always rated Nevada, bought a lot of stuff from them, and always got good service on the phone, and fast delivery.

Hopefully their good points will rub off on the other two companies :D

Saying that, my mate got a large Yagi from innovantenna's and seemed very happy with their service too, and had to order spare parts for it when an element got bent.
