Welcome to the official Charlie Tango DX Group CB And Amateur Radio Forum. You are visiting the UK's biggest and most active CB Radio club.. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are some features you can't use. If you join Charlie Tango you'll be able to access member-only sections, and use member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages, voting in polls, viewing modifications and more.

If you are not yet a member: Registration is simple, fast, and completely free. Simply CLICK HERE to start the Registration process. Your application will need to include your personal name and approximate location, it will require you to confirm your email, and then be signed-off by one of our Admin Staff, but this is usually completed within 24 hours (48 max)

Hi, I'm Simon and I have never operated a radio in civvy street and only spent very little time whilst in forces on one. But now I'm looking at getting a grant 2, mainly to keep me occupied during long drives in my car from telford to Brighton, but am aware I might not hear anything. As I'm a keen wildcamper and have my own youtube channel, I'm thinking of doing both: cb & Camping, happy days. Anyone knocking about on here from Shrewsbury/ shropshire area, I could do with a crash course in CB lol.

Hi Simon,

The airwaves certainly come alive when out on the hills with myself and others from our CTX team often out and about combining camping, hillwalking and radio to good effect. In addition to the hobby side to the radio, setting up a radio can also provide some useful backup comms in areas where phone signal is poor or non-existent.

A fair few of us also have YT channels which may have some content of interest - here's mine for example http://www.youtube.com/UKCBTV

Hi Simon, glad to see you made it over from YT! Plenty of help here if and when you need it.

Just watching some of your videos and we have the same idea about the poorer weather making locations quieter!

Good luck with your activities!

Hi, many thanks for making me feel very welcome.

I wasnt planning to ask but after some more research into CB'ing (lol) I'm thinking its probably wise to get a call sign and learn appropriate cb etiquette. As looking on yt on other cb'ers channels, there seems to be more replies and respect if you actually sound like you know what ur doing. And I Dont lol (atm).

So my question would be is where can i get access to this information?

Thanks in advance.

There's often vehicle-based stations out on Titterstone Clee Hill for the various nets, especially for Sid 141's Sunday DX every Sunday from 2pm - 4pm - might be worth a trip up there and have a chat, which would be a fast-track way of learning about how it all works (they'll be easy to spot with the antennas sticking up).
