Hello everyone,

I am starting to take radio more seriously after a bit more reading and I am considering my foundation licence. I have been doing practice tests on HamTests and I'm getting a consistent 97% (a pass.) I just remembered that I also have to do some assessed practicals and I was wondering if I would be allowed to do them on the same day as the paper assessment (To save the hassle of getting on another bus again) and whilst I'm here, is there anything I need to do before I go or anything I need to take? Thanks guys, 73!

Hi Jacob, I would advise you to do it at your local club as well, it's normally conducted over a couple of Sundays, best of luck!

Good luck Jacob , there are many aspects of radio that will become available to you , such as cw,digi modes, sstv etc, with a wealth of knowledge to back you up on whatever your interest takes you. UHF/VHF/HF even MICROWAVE (if youve got deep pockets).Enjoy.

Thanks everyone!

I think I'll stay away from the upper microwave bands, (the pockets are very shallow to say the least!) I've been studying hard and I think I'm ready to take the test when the opportunity arises. I have some bizarre urge to get on HF straight away using CW (why not eh?) But I don't have any HF equipment (looks like VHF & UHF for me!) , hopefully someone from the club will be generous enough to let me have a go! --... ...--

Good luck with the foundation! If you find yourself waiting a while, why not start studying for the intermediate? It's not a huge leap in terms of difficulty and I found it way more engaging :)

The great thing is you can choose how fast you progress, if at all. There's no pressure
