Hi Glynn
I live in France so could only do this with the Bath online course. This is an excellent course but it is very intensive and you need to commit yourself totally.
I took the exam in July and missed it by 2 marks! Very pi$$ed off but my fault entirely as I lost marks on licence conditions which was stupid as they can be learned by rote and you get the exam reference sheet which contains them in the exam so no excuse.
However, having now recovered I am going to do a revision course over the winter and resit around March so all is not lost!
If you do decide to do it this way, it is definately possible but more difficult than being in a club which can help you along the way.
Good luck.

Hi glynn, I had a go at the advanced online course and passed it. It was a fantastic course but very demanding. I would seriously recommend you have a crack at it but be it will need your full attention as it is easy to fall behind. Good luck.

Hi Glynn
If you did the first two exams without outside help, then good for you.
The way this course operates is to go through the book section by section, and there is a quiz on the section just completed each week, monitored by a tutor who should send you the worked answers so that you can see your weaker areas. For me it meant I now know more than I will ever need to about certain things but the object is to pass the exam!
It is very structured and as others have said you need to give it your full attention.
Best of luck.

I did the distance learning course back in 2011 & passed, its an excellent course, the main thing is to keep up , a few locals here tried it & dropped out as they got behind & couldn't catch up.

I self studied for my advanced.

As has been said, licensing conditions are a BIG part of the knowledge needed.

It is worth downloading the syllabus and having a good read through.
