If this is the standard CB radio it's legal in Europe and you don't need to tell anyone.
For the callsign just put the country code in front of yours eg 14/26CT1869 for France.

Do not use UK FM abroad. Don't use a linear mobile. If the police stop you unlike the UK there's a likelihood of them doing something about it if its not legit and marching you down to the nearest cash machine to pay the fine.

Been going across Europe with CB in my truck and ano my jollys in the car for years never had a problem any where !

Apart from Birkenhead docks coming back from N-Ireland when a customs fella said what's that radio on your dash said "ham radio mate" he said"do you need a licence for that" as I reached up in to a locker and pulled my full ham licence out "here ya go" then he introduced himself as M0??? Can't remember his call lol but he was a nice fella 30mins we natterd about radio CB as well !

So just say the right things in the right place :thumb:

Hi Guys, thanks for your replies, I should have said that this is a handheld rig but is a multi which can be set to CEPT channels, I'm going over in a mini bus with some pals so the rig would be in my luggage as I'm not driving, with a mag mount on the bus, but from your comment I dont think I'll have any problems. hopefully catch some of you on the air as i go on my travels. ( I'll shout for you, erik )
many thanks for the help
