Before this thread goes sour ...... @ Conor : While your input is very much appreciated on CT, this forum is a family friendly one, suitable for all ages, so no offensive language will be tolerated. @ all members : CT as a group prides itself on having the most friendly, helpful, and well mannered operators anywhere in the world. This is what the staff at CT strive to achieve. Nobody who ask's any questions no matter how basic and 'beginner' it may seem to an experienced operator should be made to feel unwelcome, belittled, or embarrassed for asking. If somebody posts information that is obviously wrong and can be proven factually to be wrong, then by all means anyone is welcome to politely put the truth/facts forward in a helpful educational manner. Any form of 'attitude' towards other members is not something we welcome. We are very proud to have the most welcoming DX group in the world, and long may it continue to be so. |

Hi Gary Sim31 is a variant of PSK31 and has it's own software which you are probably aware. I'm not sure whether Karl is using that or the usual PSK31, or whether it's someone totally different. I have PM'd him but no reply yet. I have PM'd you on this subject. Ian |

Karl I downloaded the SIM31 software and it turns out to be a German station 13RF1000. I still have not seen a signal from you I'm afraid but will keep looking. Ian |

How come when you put out a PSK beacon, it's all fun and games. But when I even mention Morse or Slow scan on PMR, people flip the table? Good luck with the beacon.

Sorry but I agree with Martin psk has no place on the cb freqs ,yes its a form of communication but for the ham bands , please leave the cb channels clear as its hard enough to get out and if some one new to the hobby hears all the noise they might not come back to a great hobby and yes I am a ham but I have no real interest , in the ham side any more, but enjoy what you are doing but please in the ham bands thank you 73s

I can't see why this is so controversial. The erp of that setup is tiny and its not like the band can be described as crowded. If this kind of experimentation is getting g people interested in hobby radio then its got to be a good thing. Perhaps the OP will take the interest further and gain an amateur license, but we don't need to forcively kick him towards it. Do let us know if you get it back on air, I'd love to try and copy it. When I was at university in Wales I used to use PSK31 at 5w into a dipole on my second floor ceiling. At 14mhz I had to bend the ends to fit it in my room. I used to regularly work western Russia and other ex eastern bloc countries, and this was close to solar minimum. How's about lashing yourself up an indoor dipole, its still a compromise but will radiate far better than a whip on an auto transformer. Good luck with your beacon. 73 de Dave 26CT2129 |
