Hello Stephen,

Definitely some crazy prices asked for radio equipment these days. Try scouting around the car-boot sites on a Sunday morning. Some real bargains to be had. :sneaky:

It is quite entertaining trawling E-bay looking at overpriced rigs and equiptment, especially the ones that have been pulled out the back of a garage and not even cleaned up, cobwebs and all. I am very suspicious and put off an item with words like; nostalgia, vintage and rare in the description.

How about this for over-pricing !!!

Hi Guys,
I love when they put " In its orginal box"... the rig might have been run over by a steamroller, but if its in its orginal box it seems that's all that counts with some guys :D

I never cease to be amazed at some of the prices quoted... at least Dick Turpin wore a mask when he robbed people !

That's not over pricing its just a mistake. it should be £114.50 (not £1114.50)
If you look at history the last one sold for £114.50

I don't think there is anything wrong with making a few quid, as long as it is sold for a fair price.

you cannot expect people to sell stuff for a loss all of the time.

Hi simon
Good point, and I agree fair price for good second hand equipment. But what a number of people are seeing on eBay which is entertaining is the visible junk which you come across now and again which is taking the proverbial. Some good bargains to be had though from genuine people/enthusiasts.

There certainly is a load of overpriced TAT on ebay when it comes to radio equipment.

A certain other radio forum has a thread dedicated to it.

I love looking at the equipment on Ebay, agreed on the inflated prices. However I've just paid £35 for a Harrier CB X (the first model I had when I was a kid). Have I been mugged off? :sos:

Do you feel if you have been mugged off ? , and do you think it was worth what you paid, its the old story TBH people will pay for stuff what they think its worth and how much they want it

All depends on what condition its in can you post some photos of it what you brought

Indeed they did Sam, I bought my Harrier CBHQ from Dixons in 1981 and it's still working perfectly, they have the same board as the Harrier CBX. I wonder how many modern radios will still be working in 35 years time ???
