Truckers channel?

Been a while and things move on, doing a run in the car this weekend and will be doing a few road and motorway miles (M1 Junc 15 to 28, and M27, M3, A34).

Can anyone tell me what is the current channel now used by the road hauliers / truckers etc? Days gone by Ch 19 and Ch 14 on the old 40 was the channels to hear the traffic conditions on and have a quick chat.

But now is it UK FM or CEPT band? And whats the best channels to monitor?

Regards

Steve

Truckers moved off CB due to the muppets on Ch19 and it getting ever harder to put an antenna on a wagon. You may find some Irish on EU AM but a lot of truckers still interested in having a rig in a truck are now moving on to 2m. GB3YW gets used by quite a lot of truckers as it has good coverage up and down the A1/M1 and M62 corridors throughout all of Yorkshire.

Still plenty on the old UK 40 fm around me and surrounding motorway links. Many hauliers seem to have their specific chanels too away from the mupps.

Funny to swl the drivers at times Sam, some just moan about the job/gaffers or the que to get into the powrr station and others fantasise about fit females giving em the come on from the drivers seat lol.

I reckon its a similar scenario to the oasis in the desert when you are gagging for a drink of water ;)

Loads of activity on the UK40 in this area, with wagon-drivers (mainly tippers and tankers running out of the quarries), farmers, off roaders, shovel and dump-truck drivers (quarries again) too. They all tend to have their own channels that they stick to, rather than using ch19. At least half a dozen channels will be busy with them. :thumb:

It can make for interesting listening as Adi says. Particularly if you know who they are bitching about. :D

As John says there's plenty of activity weekdays in the day time. Not sure how you'll fare on a weekend though. A lot of the tipper lads round the east mids seem to use Ch16 UKFM and I've heard lots of traffic on Ch's 32-36 in the day time, mostly the quarry men and those going in to load from them. but there are still some long haul/trampers who run on Ch19 with the squelsh up a few notches who will respond to a 10-13 request and if they like the sound of you (ie you don't sound like a typical 19 head banger) will chat away. Don't expect anyone less than 40 to respond however as the younger generation of driver has no place for a CB in his cab. now its all satnavs and 24 volt microwave ovens.

Gone are the days of ropes and sheets and Eaton twin spliters. Halcyon days when men where men and trucks where waggons!........................... God I'm starting to make myself feel old now so I'll shut up!

Enjoy your trip and give a shout out you never know you might be pleasantly surprised.

Cheers, Tom.

I done 550 miles in two days this week looking for cars, plenty motorway work. I was looking at lorries as I drove along to see how many cb antennas I could see on lorries and I counted 2, all them miles, all them hours and 2 antennas, I never saw one on any car. SOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooo sad.

I have good and bad memories of a road ranger :)

Everything is changing. I've been in an artic with an automatic. And unlike car automatics it worked really well and I quite liked it.

Most new truck transmissions are not really aromatic they still have a clutch they are automated manual most now all set up for fuel efficiency !

Personally still give me one of the above boxes give a RoadRanger anyday can't beat a constant mesh box n double d clutch or if your real good clutchless shifting
