Audioline 340; Rectifier diode

Hi all, managed to find an old audioline 340 whilst cleaning out the shed and out of curiosity wired it up to an old car battery and it lit up.
After a bit more searching I found an old mag mount and wired up an old cigarette adapter to what I thought was the centre positive and plugged it into my car after a bit of smoke I realised I just have wired it wrong and have blown the protection diode.

Does anyone know the correct part to order ?

Thanks in advance

Anything really. A 1N4139/40/41/42/43/44/45 would do the job. You'd also find that unlike what was in it that it won't blow when you reverse polarity, it'll just not allow it to work.

Opened up the CB today and it looks like the diode's lead had been cut, not sure if wiring it wrong would cause that or whether it had already been done, if it was already done I would assume that something else has probably been fried.

I replaced the diode anyway with one I picked up from maplins, but now it just blows the fuse in the power cable.

I've been looking at all the new radios and am thinking that I'm going to go for my foundation licence, I've wanted to do it for years but never got around to doing it.

If it had been a real bad blow then you'd have the black cylindrical part broken but not the metal legs. Someone has butchered it.

If you're wanting a good HF rig that is cheap and easy to use then you can't do better than the Kenwood TS480 or if your money can stretch a bit further, a Kenwood TS590.

Well i gave up on the audio line and ended up buying a second hand alinco dr-135uk, I would love to be able to buy something like the ts480 but can't afford it at the moment.

The alinco seems to be working well although it seems to be off on usb.
I've been mainly listening this week and it seems quite busy
