It is good news but: "Current legislation blocks the sale of equipment likely to cause interference" Hardly worked out well. |

It's not just BT and Talk Talk TV boxes that promote the use of PLTs to connect to the interweb.. Recently bought the lad a new Humax Youview box and to my surprise no built in wifi or wifi adaptor option just ethernet! manual suggested PLT for connection.. So I broke out and old router and put it in bridge mode job done and no PLT in sight :-) |

It might force manufacturers to filter the RF soup coming out of these things that would surely be a good thing. |

The way I read it the manufacturers do what they like as usual. It's the consumer who is going to be liable not the manufacturer, most consumers will not even be aware of their responsibility's ![]() This law isn't to protect us it's for gchq and the emergency services. doh I just sent this as a report by accident. |

Yes your right but the spin off means they do know its starting to cause problems and if its effecting military/police ambulance communications they will start to do things about it,and that is a good thing for us all. So we all need to log more cases about radio air pollution that those of us suffer. The more complaints they have the more weight it gives to any case. Yes your right its unfair on the consumer to have any thing shut down or removed as i expect non no the spurious emissions these devices can produce. There certainly needs more control in the first place to stop it happening. On a separate but still a consumer issue i had to tell my son his new christmas present might need to be thrown away.He got his self hoover board luckily it wasnt the models that were recalled but you could tell he was gutted at the thought. |

I bought my stepdad a set of PLT adapters so that he could watch the BBC I player on his smart telly. A wired option didn't work as it kept getting jammed in the door and cutting into the network cable. Drilling a hole in the wall wasn't an option either. Long story short, it works with no issues and they don't live near me. There is a ham/CB'er within a quarter of a mileof my parent's house, but he's one of these a$$holes that just sits on either the triple 5 or CH19 gibbering away whilst the skip rolls in and doesn't even bother to move, you know the type!

So because you do not like the cb'er you want to interfere with him? And they is alot more damage from a PLT device than someone on a allocated cb channel or a disused MOD channel. |

The big difference is PLT can be dealt with, unlike idiots what H/Harry has mentioned , plus those types who want sit on the T5 or the 19 gibbering away spoil it for others and some of them are given CB a bad name, back in the old pre legal days of CB we had our own way of dealing with those types but now days its all frowned upon to do or say anything so anything that causes those types greef the better |

That wasn't my main aim, which was to provide a method of allowing my parents to watch the Beeb iPlayer on their smart TV. If I really wanted to interfere with his radio hobby, there's far more effective ways to do it. To be honest, I've got far better things to do with my time and energy than waste it on doing that... |

It's academic now as the tw*t moved out of the area before I set the adapters up. |
