It seamed you got it better up north than down here I heard some Russian on there the pass befor and he was a good signal but when Tim was talking it was crap for me not very good at all I wouldn't even up load it to the tube

http://youtu.be/GikjypHV03c
It was a very strange contact today. I was able to hear Tim fairly well but my brother who is just a few streets away couldn't hear a thing and if comments on Facebook are anything to go by it seems quite a few people didn't hear much.

I was about as far south as you could get, stood out in the cold on the beach at Lee on the Solent, my toes were almost in the water lol.

I heard Mr Peaks calling using his GB1SS callsign, that came through very clear on two occasions, then as normal almost full strength interference every time he Tx'ed??????

I was using a handheld and 1/4 wave antenna. Heard the word Amazon and a few other words and that was it. Strange how the signal varies across the UK, is the footprint sent very small?

Nice videos of todays happens from you guys.

Will try again Monday (already planned to ensure work is moved right to get me a longer break lunchtime  )

Much better luck yesterday :-)

Sat in the company car park, used the fold over function on the antenna whip to position it horizontal and it worked a treat on my 857D

Yesterday was the first time that I've managed to hear the ISS, I usually don't know it's due overhead 'till after the event, so a BIG thanks to Del for the shout yesterday!
They say hard work never killed anyone..........but why take the chance?

Really MIFFED, ISS Orbit directly overhead my location, radio and recorder taken into work and the boss calls a unplanned lunchtime meeting....

Finished at 13.05, rushed outside and missed the action.

Good recordings Delboy, do you think he will do anymore before he returns?

Tim went out with a whimper at my end! His final school contact proving disappointing with a very poor received signal. However it's been a real pleasure to hear Tim over the past few months. He is a true legend and an inspirational figure for space exploration and for Amateur Radio. Well done Tim!

Right down on the South coast East of Devon I was using a handheld and like you only got the faintest of speech. I had to manually open the squelch to hear anything as the signal was that low. I checked his orbit path and he was South West of the UK going down into and across France, not sure of his footprint from the ISS?

His previous orbit was across South Wales and across the (near) the M4 corridor and would have been a far better signal, but the school would have had no pupils in at that time.

I am with you its been great to hear a English voice again in space, (Mr Foales was the last I had heard on the MIR (Not 2m's though)).

Did anyone down Devon/West country get a better signal?

A few videos have appeared on YouTube with better reception but none that I've seen are as good as previous contacts.

It's a shame that his last contact was so poor but it's been fantastic to hear a British astronaut on the air!

Thanks Del for the information you have been posting for all, I managed to hear Mr P a few times on my basic set up here, can now add those recordings to the ones of MR Foales that I heard when he was on the MIR.

Glad Mr P got back ok, its some rough journey back down using some proven but old tech. certainly is coming back to Earth with a bump!
