Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

Hello,

My name is Tim, I live in Essex, England, I used to be a CB user in the late 80's- late 90's, After having looked on YouTube at a few of Steve Stevens CB related videos, I Find I have a rekindled interest in CB radio and as such have a new Sigma Venom 5/8 wave antenna arriving on Wednesday :thumb:

I have a basic-to intermediate knowledge of all things radio/electronic (although a bit rusty) and in the 80's was able to read and send Morse code, these days though I would struggle to even remember the Morse alphabet lol, Never did get around to taking the Ham test even though that was my intention back in the day.

Thank you all for having me and if possible I would like to be allocated an England call sign when one becomes available please.

Tim

Welcome to the forum Tim. I for one would recommend going for the ham ticket if you're thinking about it! Lots of scope when 11m is in the doldrums ;) :thumb:

Thanks for the warm welcome guys, Nik, Thank you for issuing me a CT call sign, I have updated my location to include my town :)

High Voltage, the ham ticket is certainly something for me to consider in the future, it has always appealed to me, I shall have a play with 11 meters for now and see where it takes me :)

Many thanks guys

Hi Tim
Sears at thundersley and cars at danbury do regular ham courses.
I'm not far from you so may hear you about.
On the muppets the 25 is quite busy most evenings.

Hi Richard,

That is handy info to know, thank you sir :)

I only have a Rotel RVC 240 at present although I have been looking online at the Grant 2, so there may be an upgrade on the cards when I have a few quid to spare.

Hi Tim, welcome to the forum, it`s good that you have returned to the hobby like many of us. I`m taking my foundation exam for ham in two weeks time, it`s very basic now and opens up many more radio options,

73s, Gary.
