Don't we have to pay some kind of import tax and then a tax on that tax and then also the VAT as well and then a tax on the VAT? |

The government has already made up plans to sell off 'British Air' and the strapline for the sale will be..... "Now you can buy into what you fart into!" |

New EU law called WEEE Directive 2012/09 means no longer can you order from mainland EU for the couple of quid cheaper set, you must order from UK. Like I must order from DE and not from UK. Some dates are still open but will be added in due course. Your prices are there to stay. Click for LINK to WEEE Directive |

I agree Tim, the new regulations will only make things worse in regards to prices (Especially in the UK) |

I was under the impression that the common market/free trade area meant you could order what you wanted from elsewhere in Europe with no issues. Might as well get out of the EU all together if that is going to pot. |

Cheap crap from the far East is and will always be subject to Tax and customs checks etc. As its so cheap its usually just chucked on thru. I had to go to the customs and with the receipt for tat I bought from there. I had to open it up in front of a customs bloke so he can see if I was ripping Germany off without paying tax. Outside was written the value of goods and they matched up with what I produced. Never had a problem since, thou I do stick to under purchases of under €50 |

Prices in Europe do seem cheaper (I live in France) Pretty sure the VAT rate is higher than the UK too!!!!!! An example TODAY Diesel 1.09€ a litre 95RON petrol 1.28€ Paddy whiskey 14.25€ (70cl) I paid 169€ for my ss6900n V6 a month ago (inc lead and postage) You can pick up used CB equipment cheap here too. I saw a Dirland ss3900 BLACK as new with the box for €60 (normally you can easily knock a tenner off) Superstar ss3900 go from as little as 40€ to 60€ I'm considering a Zetagi BV135 for 55€ (with new tubes) as well as a 2 month old GPE27 for 30€ Anything to do with cars is MAGA dear though!!!! I import all car parts from Germany !!!! |

....buying cb sets in Belgium is expensive too..... president JFK II at RSE cb shop overhere costs 339,00 euro = 251 Pounds! If I want to buy a set I look around on the net....checking shops in France, Germany, UK and The Netherlands. That JFK II costs 222 Pounds at Truckerswereld in The Netherlands, 180 pounds at Nocando in the UK, and 132 pounds at Thiecom in Germany......huuughe difference! Many years ago I bought an ICOM 703, I bought it in Germany for 520 Euro.....the price in Belgium at that time was 990 Euro!!!! |

The only link I can find for the directive your talking about is here http://www.blcleathertech.com/blog/new-weee-directive-201219eu/2012/09/07/ the weee directives I thought are about disposal of electrical waste not working electrical equipment Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment WEEE I cannot find the wording of the particular bit you are quoting any links to the directive itself ? I found a link but it appears to be about waste electrical equipment or am I missing something here ? Click for LINK Edited by Scruff, Sunday, 11. October 2015, 09:00.

I liked to know that also why car stuff seems cheaper in Germany when I had my BMW compact I use get parts for sent from Germany and even inc postage was cheaper than buying what I wanted from here in the U.K , not so long ago I bought a adjustable coil over suspension kit for my Mk3 Golf GTI from a German company and it was cheaper( £170 inc P+P) than buying just normal standard shocks kit from a car motor factor in the U.K , Tim if all stuff is cheaper to buy in Germany what we all want perhaps you should start a shipping business LOL and Marty starts up one for shipping cheap radios from France You would think as that CB radio is not as popular as it was in the U.K now as it is in Europe they would sell them a bit cheaper in the U.K to boost the interest again Edited by Nubster, Sunday, 11.
