Hello, I was asked by CT1358 to make a post about the CB activity in Hull, so here goes..
Generally there is only 2 CB channels in Hull
Channel 6 is used by the black public hire taxis to tell each other if they are any spaces on the various taxi racks around the city centre.
However if you don’t want to listen to them, you can choose the other channel which is number 19, this is the local chit chat channel where you can hear any of the two dozen or so CBers that are dotted around Hull, about half of which have radios which can be picked up from anywhere in the city.
Farm yard animal can be heard on the farmyard channel which is also 19, where you can hear the sound of sheep and cows, mooing and doing that sound sheep make.
Between the various country sounds, live base guitar is very popular on the music channel which is channel 19 which also plays hits from the 80s
Hull’s CBers are general friendly, I don’t hear the abuse here that you get in other places. Generally I think most get along fine.

So that is the local use, now for DXing.
Hull is a radio black hole, radio signals either enter it and disappear or the majority of those originating from Hull never make it past the border.
I know of at least two breaker who’s ground wave signal can be heard from Lincolnshire to York and I’ve even heard it at Sheffield and Doncaster , however they can’t hear diddly squat. Others I know hear huge distances and can’t make themselves heard past the end of the street. It’s a strange place for radio.

Clubs and groups..
Hull has a Ham club, but I’m not a Ham so I don’t know anything about it other than some Hull CBers are also Hams
Hull CBers have a facebook page
The UK DX group seems to have many of it’s key members in Hull, but of course it is a national group.

Having interacted with a few in Hull most of the reason they can't hear squat but can be heard in Bridlington is because they have crap antenna installs but run silly power.

Hull as far as I know no longer has a ham club. As I recall it closed due to not paying bills, financial improprieties and other issues. Some came to Hornsea ARC, others went to Ford Paull ARC.

Trouble is that unlike somewhere like West Yorkshire or Lancashire where you've got several large towns/cities within groundwave so you can get a good community together, Hull is sat on the bottom edge of a rural county surrounded on three sides by hills and the north sea is on the fourth side.
