President Grant 2 up and running with an Orbiter mounted on a mirror mount ground plane in the loft. Seemed Ok during the day with a reading of 5/9 on the s/rf meter but getting a 9 by 9 reading on the s/rf meter all the time now, seems like lots of static/interference - any help comments? Transmit is Ok - scanner picks it up fine. Thanks in advance for any help. Ps I know antenna is not ideal but it has to go in the loft and this setup seemed the only way to get more than a 2 mile range! Pps Be gentle, first time CB'er. |

I'm a little lost by your s/rf meter readings, is it a cross needle type meter? |

Hi Giggs, Make sure the Grant 2 is showing you SWR not RF, press the button until SWR shows on the panel, you may be better of with an external SWR meter a cheap one from Maplins will give you a more accurate reading, it is vital your antenna is correctly tuned as too much reflected RF can damage your radio. Have you considered a half wave wire dipole in the loft ? you should get decent performance and they are easy to put up, you can buy them pre made on ebay for £20, CB works on 11 meters so that's the wavelength to go for, alternatively a Siro signal keeper is neat but don't expect miracles, good luck ! |
