I run a CRE8900 through a Sirio GPE 27 5/8 antenna at home. I believe the radio is pushing a max of 25W on SSB. Is it worth fitting a low pass filter? I have asked my closest neighbours and they have had no interference... but I don't know how far TVI might radiate? Edited by richs1882, Monday, 31. August 2015, 15:26.

If you are worried about causing neighbour issues, maybe knock on a few doors and ask. I would not fit anything in-line unless I had to, as anything extra is going to cause a little bit of loss in the system. Less is definitely best if you can do it, less loss through the PL259's of the extra patch lead, plus no insertion loss for the filter. Of course, when it is necessary to fit such things, then you have no choice

I have said this in another thread on here somewhere , I have actually experienced and herd by some that some TVI filters can cause interference when in line sometimes , so as Nik said if you dont need it dont use one ,plus most modern electronic stuff IE: T.V's and the like has far superior filters in them now to what the old stuff had

I would've thought I would have had a knock at the door by now. The antenna isn't exactly well hidden. I'm not giving myself any TVI though freeview or sky tv on various tv's - hopefully it is ok. |

I use the same antenna and often use a fair bit more power than I should do and I have had no complaints. A few years back when we were using an Antron 99 and before that a Delta DX the neighbour was always complaining, even with only 4 watts FM. It is a fairly efficient antenna, and TV technology has moved on. Unless you have a really dirty radio I doubt you would get any issues. Edited by Mudslinger, Monday, 31. August 2015, 19:43.
