The old 19 is fairly dead around here, as is 14. Except when the short skip is running and it can open an interesting bag indeed! Mostly good I have to say. Some people do swear a lot in normal conversation and barely temper it whilst on the radio. I guess there may even be a few who either forget or just plain don't know that it is "open channel". Not very likely, I agree, but with the intelligence quotient shown by some on there I do sometimes wonder ![]() Headphones needed if the youngest is within earshot! Or a channel change

Absolutely right there Brian. As you say, most folks on the cb freqs are good people and abide by the common decency thing. I suppose it could be seen as a good thing that most of the terrible ones seem to gravitate around 19 like flies around the proverbial turd but it does make it a bit of a zoo when you come to use it for it's intended purpose- a breaking channel Hope your grandson wasn't too shaken by the experience! |

good morning all, grandson was fine thanks it was me who was embarest, the problem I have here is many of uk fm channels are used by farmers, and sometimes they mght say helo , but mostly they are talking to next combine harvester or such like, so I try keep out of their way as they are working, that's why I call on ch 19 then move to talking channel, I didn't know that anyone using 19 is classed as a div, lol last night frie 24 about 5pm I called on 19 and spoke to ham in Exeter, then went to ch26, my little old presedent grant 11 and antrum 99 are serving me well brian |

Sympathies with you there Andy, "but you cannot put back what the good Lord has left out" with these people. Ch19 is, Ch19 and that's where it ends with a lot of breakers around my QTH. We are all on this fantastic pastime for different reasons, for me I am just an "anorak" its my broadcasting station, don't swear on air (I should sit my licence) and respect other people and do not get involved in the aggresive slanging matches locally. I will have to admit, it is frustrating when you get dx's on 19 and they get the verbal abuse nobody deserves, it's not what a decent human being would do but, it will not spoil my hobby and I understand where you are coming from. Its not just the airwaves that suffer.....dare I mention Farcebook.... my daughter suffered at school with that website and she never had an account, it makes ch19 look like kindergarden..... Regards |

In my neck of the woods they plan devil worshipping activities on ch19, it's not what the cb should be used for. |
