Welcome to the official Charlie Tango DX Group CB And Amateur Radio Forum. You are visiting the UK's biggest and most active CB Radio club.. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

can anyone tell me why i cant use sysop mode just because im an m6 they emailed me back and said
In your country, people who hold a Foundation license are not allowed to
operate a radio (RF)link or repeater. Since the EchoLink Sysop mode is used
for operating a RF link, we do not offer validation to people who are not
licensed to do so. Once you upgrade your license class, we will be happy to
validate your call in the Sysop mode.

i have used repeaters whats the difference between using the pc/pad and not my radio dont state the obvious its discrimination i tell you

I wasn't aware there were any restrictions to you using echolink except you cannot run the gateway itself or is this what your wanting to do ?.

I don't use echolink or dstar here I prefer radio to radio so not sure what your asking as don't even know what sysop mode is.

I know when my wife did her m6 earlier this year they said she could operate someone elses echolink node from her pc or from a radio link (I felt they pushed it a bit to much myself), once I explained it wasn't radio it was the internet she wasn't interested as she has skype for chatting on the internet.

Answers simple, progress to the intermediate, its really not that difficult. There are very few limitations on foundation licence holders, this is one of them.

Strange that, when you log on to Echolink and look at the UK listing, there are plenty M6s operating. In fact, last time I went on Echolink I was chatting to M6JRN
On another tack, why not try CQ100 which is a similar setup.....................Mick

I saw my wifes tutor today and he said radio to pc is fine but not pc to radio, it's not discrimination it's a license limitation the same as the 10 watt rule is a limitation not discrimination.
Not sure what license can run their own gateway.
I passed a ticky box exam in 92 and learnt morse parrot style and for some reason I can do anything with no knowledge, go figure.
