Hello one & all. The name this end is Dave, I live north of Norwich in Broadland.
I go interested in radio during the 70's & have maintained the interest, even if not the involvement in radio ever since. I am a keen shortwave listener & like to tune around the MW & band VHF 3 meter broadcast band.
I did play with CB in the mid to late 70's but never really got the bug. I did the RAE & never really got the bug. Now I have a stable address, the time & that SSB CB is to become legal again later this month & I may give it a go.

Hi Dave,
Welcome to CT DX group.
There is a lot of info about the new modes becoming legal in the 'standard cb' area of the forum, it does look like it may attract lots of former operators back into the hobby.
There have been many suggestions that it is a great thing to happen, but also many members have raised some issues that it may not be so great having 4 different modes on the same 40 channels, but I guess time will tell :)
I hope you enjoy the forum, and find us friendly and helpful,
Nik

With radios being what they are, I had wondered if it was worth having a 10 meter radio in the car & re applying for my amateur callsign again & working a mixture of CB & 10 meters, especially 10 fm with the repeaters from the car all on one radio & antenna system.
It is a good few years since I was active on HF & having everything in one simple to use box, would make life a lot easier & safer when driving.

Sorry. I forgot to say thank you...

Hi Dave, welcome aboard, Ihave a full call and I do just that, I run Alinco DR135dx in my works van, programmed in the 10m band and also the mids and uk40fm as well, the sirio performer antenna is widebanded enough to cope with it. Handy when I'm at a loose end, turn on the radio and chase DX.

How does the Alinco perform on the repeaters & on 10 meters SSB??
I may or may not get my licence back, but if I do I want to be able to have everything in one easy to use box & looking around none of the sales information makes it clear if the radios are easy to work away from set big channels.
