So I bought a box load of gear and radios the other day and included was a Key KM80, 16 channel radio. Simple functions, speaker mic and a big heatsink on the back. I've asked around elsewhere and researched to no luck regarding what frequencies it works on. Myself and a couple others suggested it was on the low VHF frequencies as it can be converted for 4m. Im just wondering what freqencies it actually transmits on, on the 16 channels. My first guess was taxi radios but im not sure And also if I can use them legally.... Or illegaly If I can't use them, ill likely convert it for 4m and sell it on. So does anyone have experiences with these radios and know what it transmits on? Cheers Hugo |

Hi Hugo The Key KM80 is a 25w radio which works on 68-88mhz. It can be modded to a 16ch or 32 channel. The receiver is very sensitive in fact they are sh*t hot.Check out Tom Gradys site which is the place to go. Regarding eprom for the rig. There is a guy who sells 16 or 32 channel eproms on ebay for the key km80.Make sure you have a normal rig and not a trunked radio. All the best WhiteSpirit aka G6OHM |
