I have just brought an Yaesu FT-60 handheld, which the suppliers modified to give me full TX coverage, but unfortunately, I am still not able to program in the PMR Channels, due to the step increments will not allow to enter the frequency, nor am I able to manually enter the required frequency, any suggestions?

What you have to do is use the 5 kHz step to get near enough. It's not perfect but better than nothing, in most situations you would get away with.

You will have to programme the following:

Ch1 = 446.005
Ch2 = 446.020
Ch3 = 446.030
Ch4 = 446.045
Ch5 = 446.055
Ch6 = 446.070
Ch7 = 446.080
Ch8 = 446.095

Cheers Dave, programmed the channels, will have to try and get up high this weekend and test the rig out. Next purchase will be a mag mount and vertical.

Well as long I stick to low power 500mwa, and use the antenna on the radio I should be ok.

I think as long you as not causing interference to others and keeping the power down to 0.5 watt, you are not sticking out like a sore thumb ;)

But please don't say to the judge "Dave the Pixie said it was OK." :D :D :D LOL

Having programmed the PMR Channels in to my radio I have noticed several businesses using PMR, I thought they had to use a different part of the spectrum.

PMR446 can be used by anyone whether business or recreational. It is a cheap and licence-free communication for the masses, plus companies or a workforce can use them all over Europe without having to apply for a licence in each individual country.

If businesses wish a less populated frequency and more power, then they can apply for a business (PMR) radio licence.

I have the FT 60, its a great little handheld. I'd like to hav mine wide banded too. Anyone know of somewhere in South Wales that can do it? I know Triple C has shut down. I have a trusty UV5R though which I use for PMR working. I've built a dipole but haven't managed to test it yet.

Shame Ofcom couldn't be a bit more proactive in this area. We have some chopper causing intentional QRM on the local 2m repeater. A problem that's been on going for a number of years.

All the best folks.

There are vid's online showing how to wideband the FT-60E, looks straightforward, but I got the company I brought do it for me.

And yes, it does appear to be a nice rig.

This matters not because you have already brought one but having had a FT-60E for a while (not modified in any way) I sold it in favor of a Baofeng UV-3R costing the quater of the price. Why?.......

The RX audio on the FT-60 is rubbish if you have to turn it up in a noisy environment (better with a good quality spk/mic). All the short comings of the Baofeng, lower power, non alpha tagging and a pain to programme without software have now been addressed thanks to the GT-3, still less than half price over the Yaesu.

They are all made in China............

Having looked at the box the FT-60E came in, the transceiver itself was manufactured in Japan. Though I will at the GT3, as I would like a radio that will tune in to the PMR frequencies.
