The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

Today at about 11:30am channel 19 uk fm i heard a blast of morse code it lasted a good 40 seconds or so it was about 2 s points on my meter never heard it on uk fm before it would of been interesting to have been able to translate it.

Was very strange do people still use it did any one else hear it ??? :doh2: :doh

Andy, morse code is still used a fair bit but it tends to be mostly on the amateur bands/frequencies. Many operators prefer it to speaking and they are very proficient at it.

Whilst it is mostly used as explained above it seems to be creeping into other frequencies including 27.555 USB and its nearby numbers and also the UK FM. I have heard it a few times but like you cannot translate it.

Over the last few months there have been some very strange sounds popping up on the UK40, from what sounds like people sending faxes to repetitive beating sounds. Morse is one of the more normal ones!

OTH is Over the Horizon Radar read this saves me typing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Over-the-horizon_radar but you dont normally hear that on UKFM
