Have I got it right that the 27/81 channels are going to remain FM only though? So FM will be the only choice on those frequencies.

Also, somefolks may only have FM rigs for a time to come

Yes the cb27/81 frequencies will still remain fm only and was not in the proposed changes for am and ssb.

The cept frequencies are the only ones to have am and ssb for our country to hormonise with the rest of europe.

I cannot see the point of SSB and AM on the same frequencies as the rest of the world.
Personally I thought CB27/81 was the best option on a totally unsuitable frequency (Unless you are talking about a pseudo Ham Band)

I rarely use 27/81 unless the eu prop is with us and i make a point of using it to work 108/68/29/163 and the rest of 26div as tbh theres no one local to me to have a qso with but i agree it should still be used..

Managed to work 2 and 9 divs there this year..... :thumb:

I will still use the UK40 fm. :thumb:

I enjoy the various ground-wave nets on there and enjoy rag-chewing with other local stations at the weekend. There has been a resurgence in quality ops coming on to this band, in the High Peak area, over the last year. :thumb:

Other than Olga (which causes problems accross 11m) and the odd ssb station, the top 20 channels are relatively interference free too. By contrast the mid-block can be a real mess when the propagation is strong, with different countries using different modes on just 40 channels, making it virtually unusable. Even local contacts which are 5/9+ can be difficult to hear at times.

So I will continue to use the band for chit chat and the various nets. :thumb:

Another user of UK FM 27/81 that will continue :)

In fact, I can't see me using CEPT at all, I think it's going to be a complete mess, so good old UKFM for me !

I will still use the UK40 too.

There will be times on CEPT when local chats are very difficult due to foreign interferance.

UK40 tends to escape the majority of it.
