Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

All through the 1990s in Dumfries I regularly had contacts on UKFM with...
Ronnie (Steel Rider) who lived off Balmoral Road
Peter (Mr Fix it) from Troqueer
Peter (Icon) who lived off Lovers Walk, but has since moved to a rural location south of Lockerbie. He is also a GM3.
Max (cant remember a handle, we didn't really use them) from George Town opposite the Mount Sydney pub.

If you know of these people, or what happened to them, I'd appreciate a message.

BTW, these folk knew me as just "Jack from Lockerbie" even though I moved away from Lockerbie in 1995.

Thanks

Hi Jack, I think I have already told you that I own a yacht and sail out of Dumfries (Kingholm Quay) but at the moment being physically unable to sail my boat is on the hard stand at Roy Kerrs farm in Dumfries, I always have a radio on when in the area 2m 70cm and 11m CB and only ever hear the odd trucker or a small dedicated few from Carlisle these days, very quiet indeed and I always end up on the Carlisle repeaters as at least then I can link up via echolink to the rest of the country and the world, to be honest I think repeaters and echolink/allstar is fast becoming the most popular form of radio/computer based comms.
Hope you some day find your old radio pals and I will whenever over in that neck of the woods keep my ears pinned back for you, keep living the dream out there and yes I am very envious (for the fishing and sailing that is)
best wishes from the homeland
Phil

Hi Phil
Thanks for the reply. I am actually in the area at the moment. Staying in Moffat. I'll behere for a few weeks and will be on air for the net tomorrow.
I might go knocking on a few doors and see if I can find a few of the old guys. I am a little hesitant as I might find things I dont want to hear. We're all getting older.
I have had a CB on for a while and was surprised with how little is on air these days. No truck drivers. I guess its just us die-hards left now :)
