Welcome to the official Charlie Tango DX Group CB And Amateur Radio Forum. You are visiting the UK's biggest and most active CB Radio club.. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

If you join Charlie Tango you'll be able to access member-only sections, and use member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages, voting in polls, viewing modifications and more.

Hi, group members :

I am CP1 CI writing to you from La Paz city, Bolivia, South America. johnmichaelcc@hotmail.com and toledotolerante@gmail.com

Propagation conditions on HF are presently very poor. When they are o.k., I work the CB band as well as the radio amateur HF bands.

I use ICOM IC-728, IC-735 and IC-751A transceivers coupled to vertical no-traps antennas. I have contacted operators in countries all round the world, islands and ocean-going ships.

Here, the power output from CB rigs is not controlled, as long as no RFI is caused to other people. Therefore, operators couple their rigs to 100-watt linear amplifiers. You can well imagine the wonderful results obtained.

The high altitude above sea level of La Paz city ( 3 600m and 4 000m in the " Alto de La Paz " city above ) is said to favour propagation. Well, I rather believe that my vertical non-traps antennas are resposible : the emitted signal is propagated at a low angle, and very long distance comunication is achieved.

I hope to hear from other members and to exchange information. Thank you.

Hello John Michael,

great to have you here, welcome to Charlie Tango! :)

I am also very sure that altitude alone is no guarantee for good DX. What kind of antennas exactly do you use?

That power isn't regulated in your country sounds funny probably to most people here on the forum. What about CB frequencies - which are you allowed to use? I'm wondering if we can talk to each other on legal channels? That would be a pleasure! :)

Best wishes from Germany
George
