Plenty of warning for this years BIG NET!

Celebrating 32 years of legal CB radio in the UK!

As it falls on a Saturday this year we have the ideal opportunity to make a full day of it and as OFCOM (more or less) promised they would legalise AM/SSB by the autumn I have included channel 32 mid band USB along with the usual channel 32 UKFM.

If the AM/SSB legalisation does go ahead this years celebrations will be especially important as most stations have called for these modes for many years.

So what do you think?

Please post ideas/plans for "The BIGGER Net 2013" below!

OFCOM had originally suggested that SSB would be legal by the time of this event, however that has been put back to spring next year!

So when we do 'The Big Net' for 33 years of legal CB we should be able to operate AM/SSB legally! (We Hope)

Hello all,

Here is a video I took of yesterday's net: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sNncF2Dg4LE

Unfortunately I couldn't join in as I had antenna issues (high swr).... So I thought I would take a video instead.

I'll also post this up in the 'Galleries and Videos ' section too.

Hey Gareth,

We were on air high ground from 9am to 9pm. Unfortunate circumstances due to lightening and static meant a premature shut down of the station just after 9pm!

Seems as though Olga had it in for most of us on the day and made it very difficult to get many despite calling out pretty much all day! We were also getting side-band interference also early evening.

Conditions on the day we pretty bad, as mentioned above Lightening and static, plus hail storms, horizontal rain and winds in the 50-60 mph range!

Antennas and shelters stayed up all day even though as I say we had very high speed wind and the kettle never broke down!

There were contacts made and thanks to all who made it out and called in to us!
