Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.

We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

If you don't want to do a permanent install. A coupe of crocodile clips on the battery will do the trick when static-mobile. Then run the cables through the window.

Fortunately you had the correct fuse inline,ive seen fuses with tinfoil wrapped around them :doh:

Then its bye bye radio...

reading in the actual operating manual it does state that the Current Consumption being 7 amps maximum

Sometimes, not enough power/amps is as bad as too much. What is the power outlet/ cigarette lighter rated at? A 7 amp fuse should be good for a radio putting out 80 watts.

Your right Les, it does put out 7amps max. The fuse that blew wasnt my power cable as you may be thinking, it was inside of the cigarette plug. And I just looked up the original listing at it was rated at 5amps...

as long as you didn't put red to black and black to red your fine ;) i think thats another one we all pretty much done at some point,

main thing you learn make sure you have the right fuse they save you and your radios.

More to the point !!!DO NOT!!! plug a radio into the cigarette lighter unless its a 4watt CB Radio that will be ok,but any radio with a bit of power and its a no no...
