Hello,
I have a Baofeng UV-5R that I would like to get a better antenna for. I bought a Nagoya NA-701 for it because I did not like how the stock antenna performed. Well this antenna is better but not as great as a 16"+ antenna would be. My friend let me use his HT that has a flexable antenna that is about 16" long and it does an amazing job. (The brand is totally wore off so I am not sure what it is) So I was wondering if anyone knows what antenna that is 16+ or longer works really well for the Baofeng radio. The longer the antenna the better. I don't care if it over 2ft just that it is great at getting repeaters and simplex. I did a quick search online but I couldn't find anything. And I need an antenna that is flexable and that fits right on the female end of the radio because I want this for on the go and not for just in one spot like a base antenna.

Thanks in advance!
Noah

Thanks Cheeky Charly. That seems like a good one. Is there one by chance that is not made in China but made or at least sold in the USA that is still really long and flexable? Other whise I think that maybe my antenna that I get for my cheap-o HT.

Thanks for the help. I like how long that antenna is Steve but it doesn't have the right connector. I think I will buy that NA771 it is a steal for money wise and if it does really well I should just get it.
Thanks,
Noah

SMA-to-BNC connector on Ebay.com, from American seller, for <$5 LINK.

If you're willing to buy from China or Hong Kong, the same thing is available for 99c with free postage.

I think the antenna you are thinking of could possibly be a Sharmans SRH 536. Iuse one myself and they really do make a massive difference to the TX/RX. And the best part is you can almost bend them in half or tie a knot in them they are so flexible. You may need to buy an SMA male to male adapter which are widely available. good luck and 73s...Chris.

If u want increased performance but don't want a really long antenna get one of these:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B008P7YX4Y/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1373471799&sr=8-1&pi=SL75

I use one on my Baofeng 5r. It's 8.5 inches long and it works considerably better than the stock antenna.

Use the DIAMOND RH 771 on my Baofeng's ...These give two S points improvement over a half mile in tests I have done.

Just make sure you get a good one Darren, I bought a 'Diamond'RH701 from the internet at a bargain price, I knew it wasn't a genuine Diamond antenna, but for less than £10 I wasn't worried. Seemed a bit better than the original too, but when checked with an SWR meter I found I needed to add 3.5cm to it to make it sing on 2mtrs, it wouldn't have hurt the Baofeng, but it does work better now I've fettled it! Hope you get it sorted
They say hard work never killed anyone..........but why take the chance?
