It's got to be dead and cooked first! Alive and kicking in a white sub is a step TOO far!

I would try cooked dog though, without a doubt. I also fancy trying chocolate covered scorpions too.

Maybe I'm just odd!?

Well, horse is supposed to be a delicacy in some places, including France I believe. I'm not sure I could tell the difference between minced Dobbin and minced Ermintrude BUT if I am eating Horse then I want to be TOLD I am eating Horse. I don't want to pay for beef and then later find I've got Road-kill squirrel, Dobbin, Rover or Tiddles the Cat.

No argument there Chris. But I think people have a right to be told what they are eating, and to be given what they pay for.
I have no idea what the going rate for Horse-burgers might be, but I'd be willing to bet that 100% Neddy is going to be cheaper than 100% Ermintrude.

The blame, apparently, doesn't lay with the UK manufacturers ("Findus" was one caught up in it) but with the Suppliers. It seems that Findus bought imported minced-red-meat, labelled as 100% Beef, and used that in good faith, only later to find out it was Shergar.

Once again the Brits will follow the Rules and make a polite request to Brussels that the EU might speak firmly to the Lying, Thieving, Fraudsters Gentlemen Farmers in France who supplied the meat. . . . IF it were the other way around, we would find the Channel Ports blocked by Farm Wagons until a Full and Indefinate Ban on ALL EXPORT of British Beef was put in place. I do get a bit sick and tired of Britain playing by the Rules when, it seems, most of the others in the EU only comply when it is in their interest, or it suits them to do so.

I wasn't shocked to hear about horse meat in some of the cheaper products. However, to hear that a Findus Lasagne is 99% horse meat was an eye opener. Although I don't buy these products (I prefer fresh meat) I think it's safe to say that I will have eaten horse or another animal without knowing which does annoy me.

In general, I'll eat just about anything THAT I CHOOSE to eat.

I heard on the radio yesterday that vets use a chemical called Equipalazone (Bute) which remains in the horse meat after death which would then be ingested by us. This is slightly worrying as there is nothing known about how safe it would be to eat or have in our system.

Another annoying thing is that the government is letting the meat industry regulate it's self, asking them to check products are horse-free then submit the reports to them. This is typical of our government. I think it needs investigating correctly and firmer and more regular checks made on factory's which handle meat.
