The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

It turns out the farmer owns all that land including the tarmac road but it is maintained by the folks that have the antenna arrays up their so to a point the farmer must be ok ish with bods parking their doing radio stuff as he has not booted anyone off yet.
he's obviously not worried about being vapourised by the MASSIVE rf on show :P

with the numbers proposing to make the trip, it should be a good day. don't forget all those potentials out there, the more the merrier...everybody's welcome :thumb:

Just to clarify the (probable) legal position:

The erection of the Arrays was probably accompanied by a legal document called a "Wayleave agreement" whereby the landowner formally and legally granted the accredited Representatives of the Array-Management-Company right of way over his land. The wayleave usually specifies that access is granted in cases where necessary to perform "official duties" and "in cases of emergency or urgent repair or restoration", and it is subject to various locally-agreed limits and conditions.

I live on a hilltop and, about ten years ago, I had an Internet Relay (line-of-sight-radio) on the roof of my house for a couple of years so that a company could beam high-speed internet from Cardiff into the Vale of Glamorgan, pre-ADSL. The comapny that managed the dish and aerial on the roof of my house had a Wayleave Agreement granting them certain Rights to access their equipment on my roof and in my attic. But it certainly didn't mean I'd have been happy if half a dozen CB/Ham types had appeared in my drive and set-up "/P" Stations there . . . actually, I'm lying, I'd have thought it was great and gone and joined in, but you know what I mean.

You might (hopefully) find that he turns a blind eye to Hobby-Radio Operators going up there (or is even interested) but, equally, he would be fully within his rights to demand that anyone other than Employees of XYZ Array Management etc "Hop-it Pronto". Technically, you'll be trespassing and therefore required to leave by the shortest, least-damage route, if asked to do so. The very very worst case scenario is that there could be a charge of criminal damage if you park off the tarmac track, or even for "damage to the track". But that'd be HIGHLY unlikely unless someone has an attack of automatic mouth, or has a go at the land-owner or something.

Don't forget that there's a significant different to the farmer looking up the hill from his back door and seeing a single van, Landie, or something parked at the array while someone is in there doing something official, and seeing half a dozen cars, a few aerials and blokes wandering about, let alone the barbecues, fire-pit, dancing-girls, and laser-light display... :D .

I don't want to Pee-on-the-Parade but please remember that "the farmer must be ok ish with bods parking their doing radio stuff" might ONLY apply to Official Representatives, so please do be prepared to move on if asked to.

evening guys.

i have just discovered a MAJOR oversight on my behalf. i totally forgot about the footie at 3pm on easter monday so any radio activity will have to cease at about midday. i am still planning on making the trip across the water but i'll have to bale out well before the ct cb net at 2pm.

am planning on getting over there for about 10ish. hope this doesn't affect anyone else's plans.

Don't forget take something for 446 too - although the actual CTX PMR446 event is on Sunday between 12pm and 2pm, I take a 446 out as a matter of routine these days ;)

Looks like you'll be gone by the time I get set-up Paul, but good luck with the meet-up and hopefully catch a few of the others on the air :thumb:

446 will be catered for Gary :thumb:

***FOOTBALL-RELATED CHAT ALERT*** And as for not meeting on air personally, after the pletherer of poo that my beloved Southend Utd served up as Bradford today (2-0 loss and finishing the game with just 8 men!!!), I might just abandon the footie plans and hang around with the radio gang.

Can't believe I just said that...

Still not sure if I'll be there. I may get out of the house for it or I may point the beam in your direction.

Would be good to meet up with you all again but don't tempt the rain gods. Last time was horrid! :D
