Easter CT CB Net 2012 Hilltop Meet Up; @ Botley Hill, Surrey

Morning guys and girls.

I'm planning to venture over to my not-so-secret high spot on the Kent/Surrey border on Easter Monday to try and help link up as many CT members as possible for the Easter CB CT Net. This high spot has been quite successful in the past so the potential of a good day radio-wise is always there.

I know a few of the usual herberts have confirmed their interest in attending so my invite is obviously extended to all CT members in this part of the country. It's been mentioned on numerous occasions that the south of the country struggles when it comes to CT CB nets so here's my rallying call to all operators who have an inkling to make the effort...YOUR PART OF THE COUNTRY NEEDS YOU!!!!!

Here's a map link for the high spot in question:

***BOTLEY HILL***

The location has perfect access for cars as there's a tarmac access road plus, if you're feeling a tad thirsty, there's a rather nice public house on the nearest main road. I've even operated portable from the pub's huge car park in the past so that could be an ideal place to chinwag after the radio activity if people feel inclined to do so.

Right, that my promotional bit done. It really would be fantastic if we could get a gathering of CTers. Eyeballs, field days, DXpeditions...whatever you want to call it...are always being mentioned so let's hope we can turn thoughts into reality :thumb:

Great stuff - I'm pretty sure I'll be able to contact you all from there on CB and perhaps PMR446 too :thumb:

Are you thinking Easter Sunday?

Three miles away hehe and less than a mile from my secret dx spot so I'll be there, should have my mobile setup running by then and perhaps even my homebase one too.

Count me in of course, hope to be mobile running within the next fortnight, making up my power leads as I type so hope to catch you on air soon, maybe even from homebase but not sure on that.

btw the jabs refers to us Surrey boys so we dont catch the essix bugs innit, the other half took loads before I moved here

Nice one - only a really bad scene will prevent me from being in a decent location for both Easter Sunday and Monday, so it's looking good for some pretty big 27Mhz and 446 distances :thumb:

just to confirm to those potential attendees, i was planning on making this trip on easter monday for the charlie bravo net and not easter sunday. i know monday is probably gonna be out of the question for 1 fellow essex boy which is gonna be a great shame. i was hoping that i'd got my dates mixed up but the charlie bravo net is the one i'm aiming for on the monday.

i can't believe i've even thought about pitching the tent to make it a two-dayer...what's all that about??? :P :P :P

Not sure Paul, but I think you would be pushing it when it comes to tenting up their without permission as it is privately owned ground and the owner has shotguns as he is a regular rabbit-er so be warned LOL!

@ Trevor, how early as I don't believe the CT net is until the afternoon ?

i was thinking of somewhere nearby simon. i know what you mean ref the farmer. have always been tempted to ask if i could 'borrow' an inch of his land so i can shove a mast in the ground but i've seen him out and about with his weapon of choice (leave it!!!) and i'm still trying to pluck up the courage to ask him :P

Hmmmm I might be up for popping down. I can't get away with spending the entire weekend playing radio but you might have me making an appearance.

If I do turn up I will certainly put in an effort with you guys. Might just come along to say hello more than anything.

If I can't turn up I will give you buys a shout. From reading you guys should be easy peasy. If not, I'll drive up a hill 15mins away to shout.

fingers crossed the missus gives me a pass to play radio.

It turns out the farmer owns all that land including the tarmac road but it is maintained by the folks that have the antenna arrays up their so to a point the farmer must be ok ish with bods parking their doing radio stuff as he has not booted anyone off yet.

Lets hope for good weather
