I've just set up home base and am looking to get a power mic for the dx5000.
Been looking at a couple as in the title,
Anyone had any experience of these a they're in a sensible price range.
Or any recommendations as what runs well on the dx 5000 in the £30 range

I run a K-PO nm532 on my K-PO dx 5000 and it works very well. In fact, I have had many good reports on the audio on both FM and SSB. I would say keep the mic level down to about 1/5th of the way ON (the slider on the front of the mic), and it sounds great.

Cheers for that Nik, they got them on knights web site for £19 wired to suit the radio.
Mines got a 6 pin mod, been told to have any mic wired to suit a 6 pin uniden?

Not sure on the 6 pin wiring mate.
Mine was wired for my old CRT SS3900 (4 pin uniden), so all I did was disconnect pin 4 (blue wire) because that is 'powered' on the dx5000, and it works great now.

The Astatic Road Devil is another mic to consider. Once again, remember to keep the power level of the mic fairly low - as these 5555 / DX5000 type radios don't like too much power pushed into them. They suit electret type mics better than dynamics too... but both work well.
