Not a clue! LOL . . I was very very very tempted to buy a Mantova two years ago but couldn't find a single review or comment about them. I asked Thunderpole and they couldn't even give me a Comment!

Will be hugely interested to hear how you get on with it and how well it perfoms. It surely looks the part!

I've seen a new one unassembled and it looks to be well made - apart from that, not much info but I do know that Terry from the BristolDX shop is now using one and reports from him have been positive.

Please let us know how you get on - as Steve says, there's very little info out there about this antenna.

They do look very simular to the Sirio 827 and build quality is simular, Although the 827 uses a cast aluminium ring to hold the Ground radials inplace were as the Sigma uses Plastic top ring . I would have thought performance wise there simular as both are 5/8 wave antennas of simular design.

I bet that PLASTIC "Capacitance Hat" gives it a massive edge over the 827 though :D

Seriously, I like the aerial but don't understand why they have added that stupid thing to the top of it, or is it really just to impress Muppets?

Ok I know the pictures have gone but here is a update to the BIG SIGMA

I have found it dose work very well on some ham bands
On 20m from 14.100 to 14.500 it's resonant SWR is 1:5:1 max
17m15m12m needs a tuner but works like a end fed vertical as its not DC grounded like IMAX or A99's. it wil work on 40m but it's efficient as using a paper clip to work 80m

I have worked Asia Australasia the Americas Europe and Africa its been loaded up with power to 1KW with no probs tho I don't run more than 150w

And for standing up to bad weather it's still straight as and most my wind comes from the west

In my opinion if you want a good all rounder for 20-17-15-12-11-10M I'll give it 9/10 better than a A99 or IMAX I can't compare to 827 as I don't like the look of them myself

Funny I was just looking at these yesterday, seems sigma have quite a range of antennas with different lengths and numbers of radials, as many almost as Sirio. I like the Mantova 1 with the 4 large radials however the gain figures are a bit out and am surprised to hear that top hat is plastic! whats that about?
The range looks heavy duty enough though and i'm sure they perform well.

Let's be fair, just about ALL Gain Figures for CB Aerials are nothing more than a complex joke between the manufacturers and the sellers. Generally, I believe they're a Sales Gimmick to entice the Hard-of-Thinking. Sigma are no better, and no worse, than the others for using "Italian dB" in their Gain claims.

The plastic Top Hat is a total joke though. Unless it is to stop rain falling down the inside of the tube :D

I did think about making a capictance hat for it project for the spring and better weather.
As with what Steve said gain on most antennas whether Italian or from any other country is mostly a joke whether CB or HAM antennas.

Thing is it dose work at £130 from Thundercrud sorry Thunderpole it's worth a go if you need a multi band antenna.

(As for Thunderpole that's another story to how down hill they have gone in the last few years)

Currently using a Sigma Mantova Turbo and have to admit and say it was the worst antenna I've ever had the job of assembling and as for putting the coil at the red line for swr purposes it was well out for 11m..! I didn't find a low reading till I went down to 26mhz so I may work on get that issue resolved but as stated this antenna doesn't score high for ease of assembly..! A monster of an antenna and receiving very well and also throwing my signal out well up to now but it requires a bit of time and patience in a few areas..! Watch this space for my opinion over time as it hasn't been up a week yet and I haven't yet saw how it's going to handle real bad weather and high winds on my roof..!

Undo the upper coil screws and pull the coil up about 1and half inch above the red line
Remember this antenna is made in Italy and set to the mid block I had about 2mhz of usable frequency I found it easy to put up still i like
Jigsaws as for the wind make sure your brackets and pole are up
To Strength !
Good luck with it hope it brings you plenty of DX !

Cheers Sam..! I've only had it in the air from Friday so it's early days yet and I'm just happy I managed to eventually get it finished as my 827 came down before Christmas..! The pole I had the 827 on bent over the top T&K bracket in the above picture so The Mantova is mounted on an 11ft steel pole and brackets have been looked over for any twisting in them or if they are in any way loose..! I'd to stand on the chimney to put the last 3 radials in so that was scary as the antenna is on the roof there of a 3 story block of flats and up some height so with the weather as it is at the minute here I haven't got a chance yet to swr it to my liking so it's running through my tuner till I can get it done..! It's pulling in signals great without a doubt and I'm getting out but personally I found it to be the most awkward antenna I have ever assembled and I have no doubt it'll turn out to be the most awkward antenna I'll ever have to take apart if I decide to change it as the sections just won't budge at all due to the sleeve method of joining the sections..! Hopefully I won't ever need to take it down if it just will give me an swr reading I am happy with around .555 cause it's over a 2 on my meter at the present from put up on Friday past..
