I am surprised that a Tuner wouldn't handle an A99 on 20m anyway. OK, it is not going to be terribly good on 20m, but it should tune there. My Sirio 827 tunes down to 1.1:1 on 20m. Assuming the top bit of an A99 is top of the "half wave" bit (I have never understood their advertising claim that the A99 is a half-wave over a quarter-wave), then it is part of the 18 feet that would be a half-wave for 11m. If you wanted to make that half-wave suitable for 20m, then it would have to be made about eight and a half feet longer, which sounds a bit impractical to me. Plus, you wouldn't be changing the A99's "quarterwave", whatever it might be. You probably would be better running a simple wire for 20m, and keep the A99 for 11m. |

You could try running a counterpoise wire from the bottom of the antron a simple jubilee clip to the pl plug. SD |
