I feel the same Rocky nice quick project for the dark winter months. @ Mad Mark. Hi, for fun and educational purposes I thought of using a 27.185 MHz xtal (as a have a few in the junk box). As I think it's 9 MHz fundamental, would it be sucessful in producing a reasonable output? Cheers Dave |

Just re-read the article. He does say: (1) Firstly, are you sure you are using a FUNDAMENTAL 28MHz crystal? If not, the oscillator may be oscillating at 1/3rd the frequency. These are not that common and the G-QRP Club ones I got some time ago were 3rd overtone ones, not fundamental. I got my fundamental ones from Golledge. Obviously he is suggesting a 28MHz fundamental only, but doesn't say you can't. My 3rd overtone crystal may be not a good idea after all. But then if I used a Toko coil out of a scrap CB....... |
