Welcome to the official Charlie Tango DX Group CB And Amateur Radio Forum. You are visiting the UK's biggest and most active CB Radio club.. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

Books for Foundation Licence? I have the answer book if you like!!!! Just kidding.

Welcome from South Wales. There's loads of really helpful nice folk on here that are more than willing to share their knowledge.

I'm surprised I've not been banned from the group due to the daft questions I ask. There's always an thorough explanation and I'm learning all the time.

You know what they say, 'every days' a school day'!

I think that if CT had that approach a LOT of us (myself included) wouldn't have lasted beyond our first fortnight on the site :D

Oh. And the "Answer Book" is freely available from the RSGB, eBay and various other places. It is called "Foundation Licence Now" and it does, quite honestly, contain every single answer you could possibly need for the Foundation Exam.

You'll manage no bother, its a good stepping stone up to the intermediate. I'm busy every monday night now doing the course for the advanced, looking at doing the exam on the 5th dec. I only intended doing the foundation, but i'm glad i have carried on.
Oh welcome to the site as well, Ask as many daft questions as you like, I've got plenty of daft answers ;)

Happy day's,there was quite a lot of information to take in over 2 day's but the course was thoroughly enjoyable and I'm now a foundation licence holder(just waiting for the administration side of things between rsgb and ofcom to take place)then i can request my M6 call sign, now thinking what sort of radio to go for handheld with a magmount on the roof of my discovery or a permanent set up in the discovery,i've got the offer of a yaesu vx-7r for about £100 with speaker mic and car charger as a complete novice would this be a good radio to start with over to you guy's for advice please

Well done Danny. Welcome to Amateur Radio and now you face The Longest Three Days Known to Mankind, waiting for the Ofcom site to let you chose your first Callsign. :D

The Yaesu VX is a good solid little handie and won't give you any trouble. I started out using a Yaesu handie but then fell under the spell of the cheap-as-chips Wouxun KG-UVD1P 2/70 which I still have and use. You won't regret taking that Yaesu, but you could have a brand new Wouxun for slightly less money.
