RSGB Intruder Watch activity on 28MHz. Following the improvement in propagation on 28MHz, it appears that there are many illegal users of this band using low power FM channelised rigs to operate taxi services. Signals mainly seem to come from the western part of Russia. Following discussions with the Ofcom monitoring station at Baldock, information regarding these intrusions is being gathered by RSGB Intruder Watch. The information will be used to support a complaint to the Russian authorities in an attempt to clear this nuisance from what should be an exclusive amateur band. Mark |

I know its all radio ( ham and cb ) and they should also sort out the Cb bands but I thinks its going to be a challenge to stop 'olga' and the like.. I think personaly that when they did away with the fee for the licence for the ham bands its changed for the worst really. Mark |

So if the R.S.G.B are the National Amatuer Radio organization,I can't see them being too fussed about cb radio, where do the R.S.G.B. get the funding from, the member's seemingly? I was reading an article at Laughing Policeman Wireless Society and it is/was quite interesting. |

The vital question is: will the Russian authorities care about Taxi operators in Russia using 10m? Olga and friends have been on 11m and higher for donkey years. I don't see an easy solution. Like to hear the view point of Russian & Eastern European amateurs and have they complained about this issue. |

All jokes aside , would the authorities over there get mega hassle back from the taxi firms . Or even, would the authorities like being told what to do by their western counterparts

I read somewhere that there might well be a number of "questionable" businesses in Russia using Taxi Firms as their legitimate Front to launder their finances. In that case I cannot see some top-end Russkie Maffiosa type quaking in his boots because the RSGB is peeved at him. If America was the "Wild West" during the days of the real-life John Wayne types, then the Russian Block is the modern day "Wild East" that certainly doesn't seem to have the same level of government control (interference) that we "enjoy" in Europe and the USA. So the UK complains to the relevant Government there. They tell the taxi companies "stop that" and the taxi companies reply with "go forth and multiply". It is probably down to something as simple as the price and availability of 11m sets versus VHF sets for taxi companies. They can get ten CBs for the price of one "Taxi Radio". As for the "The RSGB don't care about CB, only 10m". I think the main reason that they're focussing on 10m is that it is an Internationally agreed PRIMARY band for amateur radio, whereas 11m is actually a MoD frequency allocated for CB use on a SECONDARY USER basis. I do agree with the thoughts above though, that doing away with the fee for an Amateur Licence AND the same for a CB Licence was something less than a favour in the Long Term. The radio users would have a much stronger argument that the RSGB / Government should take action on various issues IF they could say that they are paying for it. Otherwise we are always likely to get the response of "You have not paid anything so you have nothing to complain about". |

Thursday, November 3, 2011 Russian taxi-interference on 28 MHz. Uli DJ9KR reports on efforts to resolve the problem of taxi drivers in the Russian Federation using 28 MHz FM. On the IARU region 1 website his writes: Dear fellow Intruder Busters, More than a year ago (24 October 2010) I asked the Headquarters of SRR, Box 88, 119311 Moscow (attention Roman R. Thomas RZ3AA, Yuri B. Malyuk RA4AR) for assistance because of the big number of illegal taxis in Russian language in FM in the range 28000 - 29700 kHz. Theletter was by Air Mail and by e-Mail. Unfortunately I received no answer so far. So I decided to contact the Russian telecom authorities directly. On 29 September 2011 I sent my complaint by fax and Registered Air Mail to the Radio Frequency Service, General Radio Frequency Centre, Federal State Unitary Enterprise, 7 Tverskaya Str., Moscow 125375. To my surprise on 31 October 2011 I received an answer by fax re. RUS / CIS taxis in the range 28000 - 29700 kHz. Here is the answer from Moscow: http://www.iarums-r1.org/iarums/grfc2011 IARU Region 1 http://www.iaru-r1.org/ Please log your reports of Amateur Band intruders online at http://peditio.net/intruder/bluechat.cgi Monitor the short wave bands on-line with a web based SDR receiver http://www.websdr.org/ IARU Monitoring System (IARUMS) http://www.iaru-r1.org/index.php?option=com_content& view=category&layout=blog&id=39&Itemid=87 Mark |
