Some trip switches are RF sensitive. It may be a poor antenna system connections, RF on the braid, it may mean moving the antenna or repositioning the coax away from the mains wiring, replacing the trip switchetc. There will be other things and I'll let other members comment on. Going to bed zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

I would go with what R.P says, a MCB (Minituare circuit breaker) may be very RF sensitive, OR even faulty?

and if? the lighting circuit is "tripping out" then it's NOTHING to do with a power circuit,

As both POWER and LIGHTING, are TOTALLY seperate circuits!

Get a sparky in to check the system over, ONE that is Registered for DOMESTIC work, "part p"

But to be honest, He or She? probably wont have the first idea about RF and house wiring,

you will prob know more about RADIO etc then him/her?

But they can at least check that the house wiring /Consumer unit over ,

to prove things are ok???

Let us know how you get on?

You haven't said whether this only happens if the Mobile set-up is in a specific place, or how far away it is or whether it happens on all Modes?

A Micro Trip can be a delicate thing and as others have said, it may be that the particular model you have in your house (either the Model, or the one rogue switch) is just sensitive to RF on 11m at short range. If it only happens when the mobile aerial is in one specific place then there could be some odd feature that is almost 'channelling' the RF to the Trip.

Certainly worth trying a couple of things just to understand how or why it is doing it.

  • Does it do it with a low-pass filter in the aerial line (is the Lincoln broadbanding)?
  • Is it only ONE Aerial that does it, or do others do the same (try swapping aerials)?
  • Can someone else park their mobile there and see if the same thing happens?
Not sure if you're using a Mobile Antenna outside the house with a mobile rig also outside, or if the Lincoln is in the house and the aerial is outside? If it is the latter, is the co-ax passing right over a lighting cable? If so, try a Torroid or clip-on Ferrite on the co-ax.

Eion,

100ma (milliamp) trip , well then it's a RCD (Residual current device) and im guessing?

it is the MAIN trip covering ALL Final circuits in the house,

1994, do you regulary TEST it, as WE all should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I;E press the test button once a month, as they can start to stick, and become faulty

Although I seem to remember this subject coming up on another site ,
a while back,

and being a older RCD, type ,age , design
it could well be RF "SENSITIVE"

keep us informed mate, or PM if you want?

Hi Eoin

When I wrote my reply last night I was half a sleep and didn't realise that you were mobile, lol :D

Many things are RF sensitive and you are not the first person to have this problem with a trip switch. I certainly did it the other day transmitting on a 2mtr handheld and knocked out the main trip switch. Also have a power supply that has a microprocessor-controlled regulator. A near RF field shuts it down by triggering the shut down protection. I remember many years ago a CBer that had a burner in his car and when transmitting would stop his ABS braking system. Another situation of RF sensitivity was someone that every time he keyed up it would activate a water fountain. Then there are alarm systems, won't go down that one :o

Hope you solve your problem.

Best wishes

Dave
